Movement Talent started in 2020 to address a number of key issues faced by movement organizations and the people interested in working in movement spaces.

Movement Talent endeavors to:

  • Provide a cohesive infrastructure for people interested in movement careers to find the right roles and organizations for them

  • Showcase the employers that are advancing social, economic, racial, gender, environmental justice in the United States

  • Support the growth of movement professionals, particularly people of color and people in the middle of their careers

Emphasizing People

We want to help you find the right movement role for you – one where you’ll grow and make an impact. With a keen focus on the progressive advocacy space, our staff democratizes access to information, offering workforce members a finger on the pulse of the various employers and a valuable window into workplace cultures and dynamics before accepting a position. We’ll start with an initial Talent Talk after you complete the Common Application. You will be provided with suggestions on next steps in your career exploration process.

Building Capacity

For employers, Movement Talent’s services span the full spectrum of recruitment and hiring activities, with diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility interwoven and prioritized throughout our work. We commonly support organizations in crafting job profiles, conducting salary surveys/comparisons, addressing organizational chart issues, and conducting candidate searches. Movement Talent also coaches staff and boards on being better talent investors, guides leaders through staffing changes and transitions, and trains staff members on HR skill-building.

The Texas Organizing Project (TOP), founded in 2009, organizes Black and Latino communities in Dallas, Harris and Bexar counties with the goal of transforming Texas into a state where working people of color have the power and representation they deserve.
