Sunrise Movement is a movement of young people fighting to stop the climate crisis and win a Green New Deal. Together, we will force the government to end the era of fossil fuel elites, invest in Black, brown and working class communities, and create millions of good union jobs. We’re on a mission to put everyday people back in charge and build a world that works for all of us, now and for generations to come.

We are fighting for what science demands – government action that actually meets the scale, scope and urgency of the climate crisis.

We believe that in order to win the world of our dreams, we must build a movement of thousands of young people across race and class to take to the streets and disrupt business as usual until we force the change we need. Together, we will shift public opinion, elect Green New Deal champions, and fight for Green New Deal policies at every level of government.

Only then can we take over our institutions and win the world we deserve.

The Campaign Organizer is responsible for overseeing successful priority state field programs and managing Sunrise’s distributed voter contact campaign. This position is temporary with an estimated end date of December 2, 2024.

Top 3 Skills

  • Knowledge and experience using Voter Contact tools (VAN, Scale to Win, Mobilize, VPB, EveryAction, etc)

  • Experience overseeing and running canvassing and recruitment campaigns

  • Election campaign experience (at least 2 cycles)

Top 2 Skills re: Multiracial Cross Class Movement Building

  • Has run voter contact for diverse universes of constituents

  • Strong orientation to using elections to build political alignment within a community

Responsibilities

Manage Voter Mobilization – 60%

  • Oversees and coordinates Sunrise’s civic engagement efforts in tier 1 states

  • Manages the Distributed Electoral Organizer who runs our volunteer program

  • Holds partner relationships with groups working in our tier 1 states

National Campaign Support – 30%

  • Supports Sunrise’s climate emergency and C4 program Action planning

  • Participate in campaign division meetings and strategic planning (Squad Field Calls, WFP, NextGen, Seed the Vote, Reject AIPAC)

Supports Green New Deal/Climate advocacy campaigns – 10 %

  • Is a member of the distributed team

  • Supports projects that organize and train hubs

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • At least 2 years doing election work (specifically field campaigns).

  • Has planned at least 3 canvass launches or large campaign events

  • Experience using distributed tools and voter file tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data tracking and budgeting

  • Experience building issue advocacy campaigns

  • Experience in an issue based organization or movement

  • Lives in Arizona or is willing to travel monthly to Arizona

Compensation: $56,000-73,734 annually depending on years of experience. Starting at $53,000, we will add $2k per year of experience to this annual salary, up to 8 years. In addition, Sunrise provides a special city allowance if hire resides in a metro/micro area.

This is a short-term role that will have an end date of 12/02/2024
