Position Overview:
To support Faith In Action’s new Individual and Corporate Giving programs, and to help strengthen its strong Foundation Giving program, the Institutional Advancement Gift Officer (GO) is responsible for developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors, with mid-four-figure gifts and above. This position will directly impact the department’s ability with a variety of stakeholders, internal and external to the organization – as Faith In Action works to grow and diversify its contributed revenue base, which currently relies heavily on grant funding from foundations. The GO reports to the Managing Director of Institutional Advancement (MDIA).
Essential Functions and Core Responsibilities:
Operating Responsibilities
- Oversee a portfolio of 120 – 150 donors/prospects—individuals and institutions
- Participate in developing donor/prospect pipeline: identification, research qualification; cultivation; briefing; solicitation; prompt follow up, stewardship, and recognition
- Writes or oversees production of all funding proposals to donors/prospects and gift/impact reports to donors in GO portfolio
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the MDIA
Strategy Implementation Responsibilities
- Experience conducting research to identify funding prospects
- Develop strategies, along with materials, to renew and upgrade donor gifts
Organizational Responsibilities
- Responsible for the creation of the GO’s donor/prospect portfolio management calendar
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to enhance relationships, create greater fundraising and outreach possibilities
- Participate in the portfolio review process and help maintain an organized system for donor stewardship by updating constituent records, as appropriate
- Maintain accuracy of donor tracking systems and database for foundation constituents, while maintaining confidentiality
- Prepare impact and gift-agreement reports on donor giving
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Three to five years progressively responsible fundraising, business development, program management, and/or sales experience
- Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills with a high degree of poise
- Experience with MS Office programs and use of relational databases such as Salesforce
- Experience initiating/developing relationships with donors/prospects and closing gifts
- Demonstrates required skills or experience on core competencies regarding donor/prospect cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Ability to set goals strategically and oversee execution
- Experience with portfolio and moves-management, and involving staff/volunteers in the process
- Ability to work cross-functionally with various internal and external constituents
- Passion for Faith In Action’s mission to harness, leverage and strategically invest the collective power of donors, advocates, and volunteers, to drive measurable results
- Valid driver’s license & insurance preferred
Work Environment:
- Moderate level of stress caused from tight deadlines.
- Moderate level of mental and/or visual fatigue and/or eyestrain may result from looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Occasional work outside of normal business hours is required along with periodic travel.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance preferred.
Compensation:
- A Full time position
- The Salary is $104,361.
