The Green New Deal Network (GNDN) is looking to immediately hire a solutions-oriented comprehensive campaigner, experienced coalition builder, trainer, and exceptional communicator as National Field Manager to support powerbuilding with statewide coalitions to win Green New Deal policies at the federal, state, and local levels. This is a full-time, exempt position.
About the Green New Deal Network
GNDN unites diverse national organizations and allied local coalitions across states, tribal nations, and in commonwealths & territories to win local, state, and federal Green New Deal legislation. The GNDN members are working in concert to build a powerful organizing, policy, and political campaign to demand and win bold change.
The National Field Manager supports state coalitions for power building, advocacy, and grassroots lobbying. They will be supervised by the Deputy Field Director to ensure working agreements with state coalitions are met. The National Field Manager will be responsible for tasks that include, but are not limited to:
- Working with a limited number of state groups to make progress on state and local Green New Deal policies;
- Facilitate calls and trainings to support the high impact work of coalition partners at the state level and ensure federal campaign goals and objectives are met, including national collective mobilizations;
- Lead or support GNDN-wide organizing priorities;
- Use trackers and systems to monitor and evaluate states’ organizing program success and challenges; and
- Working with the broader Field team to develop a culture of transparency, collaboration, and joy in the field department and amongst state tables.
Required Experience, Skills, and Characteristics
The National Field Manager should have at least three years of state, regional or national issue or political experience. In particular, they should possess the following skills, experience, and characteristics:
- Demonstrated experience and ability to build strong, focused coalitions to achieve policy and/or political aims;
- Familiarity with grassroots powerbuilding organizations, community organizing networks, climate justice organizations, and/or past national policy campaigns;
- Comfortable with building accountable organizational relationships based on mutual trust, performance, and benchmarks;
- Deep, nuanced understanding of inside/outside strategies, the interconnectedness between institutional power, mobilizing people, and movement support;
- Very strong facilitation skills and experience managing discussions and campaign planning with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent communications skills — listening, speaking, and written;
- Attention to detail and commitment to exceptional quality of work;
- Ability to juggle multiple complex activities at once;
- Demonstrated commitment to progressive values including but not limited to, racial justice, gender justice, LGBTQIA justice, and other marginalized justice;
- Experienced in working with, and demonstrated understanding of, the specific nuances associated with Indigenous peoples;
- Willingness and ability to travel, when safe to do so; and
- Possesses patience and urgency all at once.
Compensation and Benefit Package
The annual salary range for the National Field Manager, depending on experience, is $70,000 -$84,000. The GNDN will provide a generous benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance; vacation, sick, and personal time off; a retirement plan; and various other benefits.
